So let’s chat about Tales from the Back Row! Truly a delightful read. Amy Odell takes us behind the scenes of the fashion industry – from her early days of paying her dues as a party reporter, her eventual ascension in the industry, including the opportunity interviewing with the most powerful fashion icon Anna Wintour herself, to her current post as editor of Cosmopolitan.com. What makes her book particularly entertaining though (aside from the humorous celebrity-encounter anecdotes she was able to collect over the years), is how funny, smart, and self-deprecating she comes across in the book, which I very much appreciate. She has no qualms owning up to her personal insecurities, especially working in the fashion industry, which makes her so relatable to us. It’s very clear in her book she’s someone who doesn’t take herself too seriously. She pokes fun at the over-the-top ridiculousness the industry can be at times, even though she’s very much a part of that world. If you love The Devil Wears Prada, you’ll definitely enjoy Tales from the Back Row!
